Bio

t l k is an independent producer, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and collaborator based in Bristol (UK). Her sound nests in the ‘melantronic’ subgenre, combining intricate vocal layers, sub-infused synth swells, percussive textures and field recordings. Shaped by Bristol’s live improvisation scene and manifested in her introverted moments, t l k creates immersively ethereal, heavy-leaning landscapes to better understand the worlds in which we swim.

Drawing from influences such as James Blake, Radiohead, FKA Twigs and Moses Sumney, her fusion of melancholic downtempo, electronic minimalism and vocal vulnerability has allowed t l k to be recognised as one of “the most compelling vocalists in Bristol right now”. Appearing both as a solo act and as a three-piece band (James Storm Otieno - bass // Liam Twohig - kit), t l k live shows are “iridescent… just exquisite” (WAX 2021). Seamlessly blending meticulous detail with transient improvisation, and featuring friends from some of Bristol's most exciting, boundary-pushing projects (Waldo's Gift, Snazzback, STANLÆY), the t l k band moves fervently into a three-show residency at renowned Bristol melting pot, The Gallimaufry, from Autumn 2021.

Since releasing debut two-track single Frame of Ted in Nov 2020 and the self-directed video for single Next To The Mirror in May 2021, t l k has been showcased on platforms such as BBC Introducing, Soho Radio and Reform Radio, has played live shows across the UK and has earned international backing from tastemakers in Lisbon, Hamburg and the USA.

The debut t l k EP is set for release in 2022, honouring the strength in tenderness.
